HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs went 0-2 in the state of Michigan after a 4-3 loss Saturday night in Flint.
That followed a 6-5 loss in Saginaw Thursday night.
In Flint, the Bulldogs again got off to a slow start after a giveaway in the opening minute and a power-play goal late gave the Firebirds a 2-0 lead after one.
The Bulldogs found their game in the second and out-shot Flint 22-8, but only scored once as Niki Petti (11) cut the Flint lead to 2-1 after forty minutes.
Hamilton kept the momentum early in the third as Connor Roberts (4) tied the game 2-2. However, the Firebirds scored two more to take a 4-2 lead and managed to hold on for the 4-3 win even after giving up a goal to Justin Lemcke (8) with less than five minutes to go.
The loss spoiled the return to Flint of Bulldogs head coach John Gruden and forward Will Bitten who were members of the Firebirds' organization last year.
Hamilton's season record drops to 22-19-3-2 as their road record dips to 12-10.
The Bulldogs finish off their longest road trip of the season Sunday night in Windsor at 7 pm.
