Bulldogs Fall to Stars 3-2 in OT

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - The Hamilton Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but couldn't stave off a potent Texas Stars attack as the Stars (30-15-2-4) fired 47 shots on Bulldogs' (22-22-1-4) netminder Dustin Tokarski to force their way back into the contest before edging Hamilton 3-2 in overtime on Saturday evening at FirstOntario Centre.

Hamilton forward Nick Tarnasky opened the scoring at 4:03 of the first period when he intercepted a pass in the neutral zone, skated over the blue line and ripped a slap shot that trickled between Texas goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp's pads. Tarnasky's 10th goal of the season was unassisted.

Bulldogs forward Louis Leblanc made it 2-0 'Dogs at 16:32 of the first period when he fired a snap shot into the top right corner of the Stars' net. Forwards Martin St. Pierre and Patrick Holland drew assists on Leblanc's 10th goal of the season.

Just 13 seconds into the second period, Texas forward Travis Morin cut Hamilton's lead in half on the power play. Forwards Chris Mueller and Curtis McKenzie earned assists on the play.

McKenzie tied the game 2-2 on the power play at 8:21 of the second period, assisted by Mueller and forward Colton Sceviour.

In overtime, the Stars outshot the 'Dogs 4-0, with Mueller potting the winner 1:33 into the extra frame, with assists from forward Scott Glennie and defenceman Patrik Nemeth.

Tokarski made 44 saves on 47 shots in the Bulldogs net in defeat. Nilstorp made 25 saves on 27 shots for the Stars in the win.

Hamilton went 0-for-5 on the power play, while Texas went 2-for-5.
