HAMILTON, ONT. - Hamilton Bulldogs forward Jake Dowell and defenceman Davis Drewiske each had two points to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs (14-11-5-0) to a 5-2 win over the Texas Stars (11-9-8-0) on Sunday afternoon at FirstOntario Centre.
Hamilton defenceman Darren Dietz opened the scoring with a point shot for his third goal of the season at 5:05 of the first period, assisted by forwards Christian Thomas and Nick Sorkin.
At 10:04 of the second period, 'Dogs forward Connor Crisp tipped a point shot by defenceman Davis Drewiske for his first goal of the season to give Hamilton a 2-0 lead. Forward Jake Dowell notched a second assist.
Ten seconds later, Stars forward Justin Dowling cut the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1, with assists from forward Derek Hulak and defenceman Matt Mangene.
Dowell gave the 'Dogs a 3-1 lead with his second goal of the season on a shorthanded rush less than three minutes into the third period, assisted by forward Gabriel Dumont.
A little more than seven minutes into the third period, Hamilton defenceman Greg Pateryn found a streaking forward Maxime Macenauer, who beat Stars goaltender Jack Campbell with his fourth goal of the season to extend the lead to 4-1.
With less than seven minutes to go, Texas forward Greg Rallo scored on the power play to cut his club's deficit to two, assisted by forward Curtis McKenzie and defenceman Derek Meech.
Hamilton forward Drayson Bowman added an empty netter for his fifth goal of the year to seal a 5-2 win for the 'Dogs. Forward Eric Tangradi and Drewiske had assists.
Dustin Tokarski made 29 stops on 31 shots for the Bulldogs in the win and has completed his two-game conditioning stint with Hamilton. Campbell made 22 saves on 26 shots for the Stars in the loss.
Hamilton went 0-for-5 on the power play, while Texas was 1-for-7 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 26 when they'll visit the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, Ont. at 1 p.m. The 'Dogs will return to FirstOntario Centre on Saturday, Dec. 27 when they'll host the Adirondack Flames at 7 p.m.
