Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The Erie Otters suffered their first loss of the preseason Sunday afternoon in an exhibition rematch with the Hamilton Bulldogs by the score of 2-1.
It was a matchup of two first year goaltenders with Erie's Aiden Campbell and Hamilton's Marco Costantini seeing their first OHL action. The tight game was kept close thanks to their efforts with Campbell stopping 25 of 27 shots faced, and Constantini slowing down Erie's offense by stopping 39 of 40 shots.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring on Navrin Mutter's unassisted tally in the first period, followed by Tag Bertuzzi's power play goal in the second frame to put Hamilton on top 2-0. Chad Yetman would light the lamp to cut the lead in half, but that's as close as the Otters would get as they dropped the afternoon tilt 2-1.
Erie will take a 1-1 preseason record into their final two games of the exhibition schedule with a pair against the London Knights on September 13th and 14th. The following week the Otters will open the regular season on home ice for the second straight season when they host the Sudbury Wolves at the Erie Insurance Arena Friday, September 20th at 7 p.m.
