Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced the acquisition of defenseman Nathan Staios from the Windsor Spitfires. In exchange, the Bulldogs have sent 2nd round picks in 2020, 2021 and 2022, along with a conditional 3rd round pick in 2023 and a conditional 5th round pick in 2024 to Windsor.
Staios, from Oakville, ON, was Windsor's first choice (17th overall) in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection. Last season with the Spitfires, Staios amassed nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points in 64 regular season games. In his rookie season he collected three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 54 regular season games. Staios also skated in six games with Canada at the under 17's during the 2017-18 season, registering four assists. This past summer, he was invited to participate in the Toronto Maple Leafs development camp and will skate with the Leafs at their rookie tournament in Traverse City in early September.
"We are pleased to add a player of Nathan's caliber to our exciting group of young Bulldogs. He has established himself as a quality young defenseman in our league," said Bulldogs President & General Manager Steve Staios. "Our fans will enjoy watching his continued growth within our organization."
