Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs are getting ready for a big weekend of hockey at the CenturyTel Center, with games against two top-flight CHL opponents on tap. Oklahoma City is back at the CTC to face the Mudbugs Friday night and the Texas Brahmas come calling Saturday night to renew their rivalry with the ‘Bugs. Both games will get underway at 7:05 pm.

Bossier-Shreveport will be looking for its second win over the Blazers this week on Friday night, as well as hoping to extend their season-high five-game winning streak. The Mudbugs will no doubt want to replicate Tuesday's performance, when they torched Oklahoma City for five goals in the first two periods and went on to a 5-0 shutout victory. That win put the ‘Bugs back into sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division, but the Blazers could take that away with a win in this game.

Plan on arriving early on Friday night to make sure you receive your free 2008-09 Mudbugs schedule poster! The posters will be given away to the first 1,000 fans in the building courtesy of Coca-Cola, the official soft drink of the Mudbugs!

Saturday night the Mudbugs will clash with their bitter rivals from Texas. The ‘Bugs and Brahmas haven't met since December 23, when Texas held off a late comeback to beat Bossier-Shreveport for the sixth consecutive time, 4-3. The Mudbugs won the first meeting between the teams 5-1 back on opening night, but have gone 0-4-2 in the six head-to-head matchups since. The Brahmas are battling for the top seed in the Southern Conference, so the ‘Bugs would like nothing better than to end Texas' hot streak in this game.

Saturday is also our annual NASCAR night, when the Mudbugs and Nelson Oil & Gas celebrate the start of stock car racing season. The team will be wearing specialty racing themed jerseys (complete with flames and all), sponsored by Nelson Oil & Gas that will be auctioned off to the fans immediately after the game. The evening's festivities will also feature a genuine Dale Earnhardt black #3 race car that was actually raced by the legendary driver. Fans will be able to see the car up close and it will a part of the intermission activities as well. Finally, there will also be a public skating session after Saturday night's game. Cost is $6.00 per person to skate after the game and tickets are available at the Mudbugs information table on the concourse throughout the evening.

Individual seats for both games are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700 or at the CenturyTel Center main box office. Group tickets and Mudbugs flex ticket packages are available at the Mudbugs office, so call 318-752-BUGS or stop by the team office inside CenturyTel Center to get yours today!
