
Hockey Day In New Mexico Is Saturday

[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions will hold the first "Hockey Day in New Mexico" this Saturday at the Santa Ana Star Center. The day will feature four hockey events all for the price of one.
Fans of high school hockey, their local police and fire and the Scorpions will all be served throughout the day. Tickets for this unique event are only $10 by calling (505) 881-PUCK (7825).
Starting at noon the New Mexico High School All-Star will have a skills competition. The high school players will compete in seven unique events to find out who has the best skills in the state.
After the skills events, stay for the High School All-Star Game at 2:30 p.m. New Mexico's best hockey players will square off in an always entertaining affair.
At 4:30 p.m. the annual "Salute to the Badges" hockey game will commence. Two teams consisting of law enforcement officer and firefighters will duke it out on the ice to see who can claim the Badges Cup.
If all that hockey is not enough stay to see the pros take the ice at 7:15 p.m. The Scorpions will host the Rapid City Rush in a key battle. Both tams are battling for a playoff spot in their respective conferences.
The Scorps jerseys will honor those who serve our community and will be auctioned off following the game. Proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico.
The Scorpions return to home ice on Friday night to face the Rush. The first 1,500 fans inside the gates will receive pucks on "Rio Rancho Night," courtesy of the City of Rio Rancho. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
