Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
WICHITA, KS -- The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs got the offensive jump on Wichita but were unable to score in the first period at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday night. The Mudbugs outshot Wichita 8-1 in the early going and couldn't convert on a 5-on-3 powerplay. Wichita was first to score as Jeremy Koning fired a shot from the bottom of the circle beating Ken Carroll low to the glove side.
The Thunder tacked on a powerplay goal when George Halkidis fired a shot from the right point that got by a screened Ken Carroll.
The Mudbugs stormed back in the third period. Chris Abbott scored his first Mudbugs goal to get Bossier-Shreveport on the board. Later on the powerplay, Jason Basile one-timed a slapshot from the right point to tie the game.
The Mudbugs would go on to play their second straight overtime game. Wichita's Joe Blaznek snuck passed the defense and beat Ken Carroll for the overtime winner.
