Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

The Youngstown SteelHounds were riding high and looking to go home happy after an eight game, three week road trip that was capped off in Oklahoma City with a 4-2 victory over the Blazers.

The Hounds once again jumped out early with a 2-0 nothing lead thanks to the veteran connection of Chris Richards and Jeff Christian each netting their 14th goals of the season early in the first period. Marty Standish would cut the lead to one with his ninth goal of the season, this one on the power play to make it 2-1 after one period.

That would be as close as the Blazers would get as in the second period Tab Lardner and Shaun Landolt would each score their seventh goal of the season, both of which were on the power play (Hounds 2-11 on pp) to make it 4-1 after forty minutes of play.

Oklahoma City would get one back as Jared Dumba would score on the power play (OKC 2-9 on pp) at 17:34 of the third period to make it 4-2 and round out the scoring.

There would be no bench clearing brawl but Blazers forward Garrett Prosofsky was ejected in the second period for a charge on Y-Town defensemen, Paul Esdale.

The win puts the Hounds 12-6-5 (29pts) as they finish the road trip on a two game winning streak and a record of 4-3-1.

Youngstown will finally receive some home cooking as they will be home for the holidays as they begin a five game home stand starting on December 21st when they host the Austin Ice Bats at 7:05pm at the Chevrolet Centre.
