Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - After eight games played between the two teams this season, the Rocky Mountain Rage and Colorado Eagles rivalry continues to grow stronger. The Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team, dressed in special holiday jerseys, was edged by the Eagles 2-1 tonight in a thriller at the Broomfield Event Center.
The Rage was led by goaltender David Guerrera who stopped 50 shots on goal and Chip Dunleavy scored the lone goal for Rocky Mountain. All goals by both teams were scored on the powerplay tonight. The Rage falls to 6-14-3 (4th) while the Eagles improve to 17-4-0 (1st).
Unlike last night's game, the Eagles drew the first goal of the game. Colorado's Riley Nelson fired a slapshot on goal from the left circle. Rage goaltender David Guerrera made the save, but Colorado's Seth Leonard forced the puck loose from under Guerrera's pads and tapped it in net.
Both teams played a tight game in the second seeing action at both ends of the ice, but the Rage came away with the lone goal in the period. Center Dominic Noel connected with Chip Dunleavy at mid ice who was streaking down the left wing. Dunleavy skated the puck in from the blueline and shot it in net at 18:33 to tie the game.
Colorado stepped up the pressure in the third period by dominating in shots (24-8). Guerrera made 23 saves in the period, but Colorado's Chris Hartsburg managed to score the game-winner for the Eagles at 9:47.
