Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Earlier this week, the Texas Brahmas came to Bossier City and swept the first two games in their Northern Conference Semifinal playoff series with the Mudbugs. This weekend at the NyTex Sports Centre, Bossier-Shreveport gets its chance to return the favor with Games 3 and 4 of the series in North Richland Hills on Friday and Saturday.
In Game 1 on Sunday, the Brahmas led from the outset and held off a third period comeback to earn a 3-1 victory. Then on Monday in Game 2, the Mudbugs again fell behind but this time found the legs to come back. The Bugs rallied from two separate third period deficits to tie the game at three and appeared to be headed for overtime until Jordan Cameron won it for Texas . Cameron scored with just four seconds left in regulation to complete a hat trick and give the Brahmas a 4-3 victory in Game 2.
So now with a 0-2 series deficit staring back at them, the Governor's Cup Champion Mudbugs will try to right the ship on Friday night with Game 3 at the NyTex Sports Centre and Game 4 to follow on Saturday. Although Texas has a 2-0 lead with the next two games at home, Bossier-Shreveport has played well in the Brahmas' home building this year. In five games at NyTex during the regular season, the Bugs earned at least a point four times, going 2-1-2.
The Mudbugs have an All-time record of exactly 11-11 in playoff Game 3's and an impressive 16-4 mark in Game 4's in their history. Bossier-Shreveport hopes to even up the series this weekend in North Richland Hills and come home for Game 5, which would be on Sunday at 5:05 pm at CenturyTel Center . The Mudbugs have won three out of four All-time playoff series' that were tied at two games apiece.
Tyrel Lucas and Brett Smith each have two goals in the series and are the only Bugs to score so far. Justin Aikins, Elias Godoy and Joe Ori all have recorded two assists for Bossier-Shreveport as well. Cameron, Anders Strome and Blair Manning are the Brahmas' leading scorers in the series with three points each. David Cacciola earned wins in both of the first two games for Texas in goal, stopping 77 of 81 shots along way. John DeCaro played well with 64 saves despite taking losses in both games.
The puck drops in Game 3 at 7:05 pm Friday night at the NyTex Sports Centre, with Game 4 set for the same start time on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast live on the radio home of the Mudbugs, 1130 AM KWKH, with the pregame show set for 6:45 pm. Both games will also be shown live online on the CHL Network.
