Scorpions Fall In Game Three

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-After falling behind early, Arizona came back for a 6-3 over New Mexico in Game Three of the Southern Conference Semifinals. The win gave the Sundogs a 2-1 edge in the series.

For the first time this series the Scorpions got on the board first. Vladimir Hartinger drew three Sundogs players to him with New Mexico on the power play. Hartinger found an open Aaron MacInnis who took a wrist shot from the slot and found the back of the net with 40-seconds remaining on the clock.

The Scorpions jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Konrad Reeder knocked a rebound out of the air and into the net. Arizona answered in a big way moments later.

Kyle Hood scored his first career goal just over a minute later. David Schlemko tied the game up for the Sundogs as he pushed a rebound home 10:08 into the second frame. With his team on a two-man advantage, Cory Urquhart scored his fifth goal of the postseason, putting Arizona up 3-2.

Arizona came out and pushed the lead to as much as three goals in the final frame. Urquhart scored his second goal of the game at the 3:13 mark. Matt Suderman made it a 5-2 game with a goal through traffic from the blue line.

New Mexico grabbed some life back with under three minutes remaining in the game as Craig Macdonald found a loose puck and lit the lamp. With Mike Minard pulled in favor of the extra attacker, Arizona's Jon Landry scored on the empty net to seal the victory.
