Hounds stay in series with 5-2 win

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds were able to avoid elimination with a 5-2 win over the Colorado Eagles in game four of the Northern Conference Semifinals. Kevin Beech made 22 saves on 24 shots to pick up his first professional playoff victory in his first start.

Youngstown out shot the Eagles 17-6 in a scoreless first period.

Starting the second period on the power play was golden for Youngstown as Ryan Bennett scored from Kurtis Dulle and Bryan Lachapelle at 13 seconds to make it 1-0. Mark Odut scored an unassisted shorthanded goal for his first of the series at 3:27 to give the Hounds a 2-0 lead. Recently signed forward Jimmy Russo scored his first professional goal from Eric Przepiorka and Mark Odut at 10:49 to make it 3-0. Eagles Head Coach Chris Stewart called his timeout and rallied the troops as Jay Birnie scored from Seth Leonard and Aaron Schneekloth at 14:29 to make it 3-1. Schneekloth recorded his second assist of the night as he set up Greg Pankewicz for a slap shot from the point that was tipped by Ryan Tobler for a power play goal at 16:39 to make it 3-2. Ryan Bennett stopped the rally with his second goal of the game, this from Chris Richards Kurtis Dulle at 18:00 to make it 4-2 after two periods. The Hounds out shot the Eagles 15-11 for the period and 41-24 for the game. Youngstown was 2-9 while Colorado was 1-6 on the power play.

Bryan Lachapelle scored a power play goal from Steve Birnstill and Kurtis Dulle at 4:41 of the third period to finish the scoring and give the Hounds a 5-2 win. Lachapelle's goal was his second of the series and was Youngstown's first third period goal of the series. The game was very physical as they combined 135 penalty minutes off of 43 offenses with Colorado leading the way with 72 minutes.
