Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - Jordan Cameron's goal with one second left in the first period proved to be the game-winner for the Texas Brahmas, as they defeated the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs for the second straight day by a final score of 3-1. Bossier-Shreveport was held to a single goal for the first time since November 8th and back to back regulation games for the first time since October 30th and November 2nd.
Texas picked up in the first period where they left off last night at CenturyTel Center . Scott Sheppard found himself open and the slot and burned the Mudbugs with his 18th goal of the season that put the Brahmas on top 1-0 just over six minutes in. Then the period was delayed for a few minutes while the glass was repaired after Brent MacSween's bodycheck on Matt York that shattered a pane of glass. As time wound down in the period, the Brahmas won a race to the puck in front of the net as Cameron beat John DeCaro with a single tick remaining in the first period that put Texas on top to stay.
Bossier-Shreveport cut the lead in half on Kevin Cooper's second period goal at 8:03. The Mudbugs stole the puck from Texas at neutral and Cooper went on a 2-on-1 break with Chris Brassard before hammering home a slapshot to make it 2-1. Texas would regain the two goal advantage later in the period though, when Sheppard hit Kevin Korol on a 2-on-1 to make it 3-1 for the Brahmas.
Bossier-Shreveport generated more chances in the third period, but never could solve Brett Jaeger again and dropped their second straight game to Texas .
17 shots on goal ties for the fewest the Mudbugs have had this season, as the Brahmas won the shot battle 21-17. John DeCaro made 18 saves in the defeat, which dropped his record to 19-5-3 for the season. Bossier-Shreveport finished 1 for 5 on the powerplay, while Texas finished 1 for 7.
After finishing up this set of three games in three days, the Mudbugs will now have four days of rest before another three-in-three next weekend. The Mudbugs will have home games on Friday against Odessa and Sunday against Austin, with a Saturday road contest in Austin in between. Coming up on Monday evening is Powerplay with Scott Muscutt, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Coaches Show live from Buffalo Wild Wings from 6-7 pm and on the radio on 1130 AM KWKH.
