Hounds Finish Series On High Note With Win Over Kings

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - Kevin Beech made 38 saves on 38 shots in his SteelHounds debut as the Hounds defeated the Mississippi RiverKings 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The Hounds (27-16-3, 57 points) regain second place in the Northeast Division and are now tied with the Colorado Eagles for third place in the Northern Conference. The shutout is the first of the season for Youngstown and it is Beech's third (two with Laredo) as he improves to 11-4-1 overall with a 2.27 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.

Joel Irving got the Hounds off in the right direction as he scored a five-on-three power play goal at 2:00 of the first period to make it 1-0. He added his second of the game with a four-on-four goal for his 19th of the season at 16:55 to make it 2-0 after the first period.

After a scoreless second period Chris Richards put the nail in the coffin with an empty net goal 18:57 to make it 3-0. Petr Pohl added his 20th of the season as he beat Ian Keserich with two seconds left in the game to give the Hounds the 4-0 win.

The Hounds eight game home stand continues as they host the Oklahoma City Blazers for three games starting on Friday, February 15th at 7:05.
