
Buffalo Acquires Pilgram From Fury

(BUFFALO, NY) âThe Buffalo Destroyers announced they have acquired OL/DL Evan Pilgram from the Detroit Fury in exchange for WR/LB Thomas Bailey.
Pilgram (6-5, 300 lbs.) signed with Detroit on June 27 and saw action in three games for the Fury recording four tackles. Pilgram, a six year National Football League veteran, was a third round draft pick by the Chicago Bears in 1995. He played three seasons for the Bears at center and guard, one season with the Tennessee Titans in 1998 and two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons in 1999-2000.
Pilgram started three years at right guard at Brigham Young University earning first team All-Western Athletic Conference and second-team All-American selection by the Associated Press as a senior. Pilgram, one of the strongest players in BYU history, bench pressed 505 pounds.
"Evan is a proven NFL offensive lineman and he will help solidify us at the center position," said Destroyers head coach Ron Selesky. "It was tough to give up Thomas Bailey, he has been productive throughout his career in the Arena Football League.
Bailey played one season with the Destroyers and was the team's fourth leading receiver with 23 catches for 316 yards and seven touchdowns. Bailey was the fifth leading tackler with 23 stops and had two interceptions. He had a season high five catches for 51 yards and two touchdowns week three at Detroit.
Buffalo kicks off its fifth season in the Arena Football League Saturday, February 1, 2003 as the Destroyers host the Grand Rapids Rampage at the HSBC Arena. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Season tickets are on sale now. Call 881-4444!
