Budweiser Clydesdales Coming to Trustmark Park

March 12, 2015 - Southern League (SL1)
Mississippi Braves News Release

PEARL, MS -- In conjunction with Southern Beverage, the Mississippi Braves are excited to announce that the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will appear at Trustmark Park Sunday, March 29, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the general public. Attendees will have the opportunity to take photographs and interact with the Budweiser Clydesdales and hitch team.

Fans will have a chance to register to win various prizes that day. The M-Braves will also offer a special ticket package that day--the Budweiser Six Pack, Six Game Deal. In the package, fans will receive six (6) undated game tickets, two (2) six-packs of beer (Bud or Bud Light) and either a red M-Braves cap or a red M-Braves visor. Fans may purchase the package in either Dugout Level for $75 or Field Level for $50.

The Budweiser Clydesdales' appearance in Pearl is one of hundreds made annually by the traveling hitch teams. This year marks the 82nd anniversary of the Budweiser Clydesdales, which made their first appearance on behalf of Anheuser-Busch on April 7, 1933, when they delivered a case of Budweiser to the White House in celebration of the repeal of prohibition of beer.

Horses chosen for the Budweiser Clydesdale traveling hitches must be at least four years of age, stand approximately 18 hands - or six feet - at the shoulder, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, must be bay in color, have four white legs, and a blaze of white on the face and black mane and tail. A single Budweiser Clydesdale hitch horse will consume as much as 5-8 pounds of whole grains, minerals and vitamins, 50 pounds of hay and 30 gallons of water per day.

Today, the Budweiser Clydesdales continue to embody a lasting symbol of the brewer's heritage, tradition and commitment to quality. The horses may be seen at the Anheuser-Busch breweries in St. Louis, Mo., Merrimack, N.H., and Ft. Collins, Colo., at Grant's Farm in St. Louis and Warm Springs Ranch, the 300-plus acre Clydesdale breeding farm near Boonville, Mo.

The Mississippi Braves baseball team is the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Since making the move from Greenville, SC, in 2005, over 90 M-Braves have gone on to play in the big leagues. The M-Braves have made postseason play three times and went on to win the Southern League Championship in 2008. The M-Braves open the 2015 season on Thursday, April 9 against the Tennessee Smokies. Tickets are on sale now. Stop by Trustmark Park or call 888-BRAVES4 Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
