
Bucks Slip To Second With 4-1 Loss

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Texas Brahmas 4-1 Saturday night at the Laredo Entertaiment Center. With the loss the Bucks fall to 19-9-3 (41pts), and slip to second place in the Southeast Division. Laredo is now two points behind the Brahmas (43 to 41). Texas won their fourth straight road game to improve to 20-9-3
All-Star Justin Kinnunnen picked up a hat trick in the win, including netting one short-handed goal, and one power-play tally. Brett Jaeger stopped 29 of 30 Laredo shots to pick up the win in net for Texas.
The Bucks (14-4 at home) would strike first on the power-play 10 minutes into the opening period. Matt Miller scored his third goal of the season, as he jammed in a rebound from the left circle. Devin Featherstone picked up his fourth assist of the campaign.
The Brahmas would battle back and scored two straight goals in the first, to take a 2-1 lead after one.
Kinnunen took a drop pass from Pete Rouleau on a two-on-one break, and rifled a shot past Sebastien Centomo 11:39 in.
Kinnunen would strike again, as he raced into the Laredo end and slapped a short-handed goal past Centomo to give Texas a 2-1 lead just 1:24 later.
The Bucks were outshot in the first period by the Brahmas 10-8.
The second period was scoreless, as neither team could light the lamp giving Texas a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
Each team put up 10 shots in the second period.
Texas put the game away with two third period goals to make it 4-1.
Jordan Cameron scored his 13th goal of the year when he made it 3-1 just 3:16 into the third.
Kinnunen scored his third goal of the night on the power-play 6:20 into the third period. Kinnunen whipped a shot from the point off the back glass behind Centomo, the puck bounced hard off the glass and deflected off of Centomo's back and into the net.
Kinnunen's hat trick gives him eight goals on the year.
Centomo (12-8-1) stopped 24 of 28 shots in net.
Texas is now 13-0 when they lead after two periods thus far this season.
Bucks forward Erick Lizon was suspended for Saturday night's game, due to a late hit in Wedensday's 8-3 win over Rio Grande Valley.
The Bucks loss snapped their six game home winning streak.
Laredo will travel to Rio Grande Valley Tuesday night, before hosting Bossier-Shreveport and Corpus Christi next weekend. The Bucks will host "Pink in the Rink" on Friday against Bossier. . If the Bucks sell out the game with 8,002 fans, the team will donate $10,000 to Wings.
