LAREDO, Texas â The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks announced today that they have been assigned center Mark Wires by their parent club the AHL San Antonio Rampage. The Bucks are in Rio Grande Valley tonight and Wires will play. Laredo returns home on Friday night against the Lubbock Cotton Kings. Wires played in 36 games with the ECHL Texas Wildcatters this season, scoring three goals and registering five assists. Prior to turning pro he spent four years at Bowling Green State University. In four years of college he totaled 33 goals, 30 assists and 169 points.
Wires was one of over 5,000 people in Canada who competed all summer long for the opportunity to become a finalist to participate in the "Bell-Making the Cut" program. Wires was one of 68 applicants who was invited to the "Bell - Making the Cut" training camp. "Making the Cut," was a Canadian reality show where the top six finalists had the opportunity to win a tryout with a National Hockey League team in the series finale. Wires finished in the top 12.
