Bucks Ink Sophomore with NASCAR Ties

Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks have announced that infielder/outfielder Zach Jarrett has signed to play with Waterloo for the 2015 season. Jarrett, a sophomore at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, is the sixth player to be named to the Bucks' roster for the team's 21st season.

Last season for the 49ers, Jarrett, hit .248 as a freshman, playing in 44 of 51 games with 52 starts. The 6'3", 220-pounder hit two home runs with 17 RBI and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

"We expect Zach to come in to Waterloo and play the corner infield spots and in the outfield," said Bucks general manager Dan Corbin. "He came highly recommended from the Charlotte coaching staff and former Bucks players that have ties to that program. We can't wait to have him suit up for us this summer."

Born December 8, 1994, Jarrett is a native of Hickory, North Carolina. Jarrett attended Hickory High School where he led the team in extra-base hits in both of his last two seasons and earned Team MVP honors following his senior year. Zach is the son of Dale and Kelley Jarrett. His grandfather Ned and father Dale are enshrined members of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, while other grandfather Jasper Spears played in the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball organization.

The Bucks, the winningest team in all of summer-collegiate baseball over the past two years, will open the 2015 season on the road versus the Alexandria Blue Anchors on May 26, but return to Waterloo for their home opener versus the Mankato MoonDogs on May 28.
