Bucks host Rio Tuesday morning: look to start new win streak

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League will look to get back on the winning track Tuesday morning when they host rival Rio Grande Valley in the annual McDonald's Kids Day Game. Game time is set for 11:00am. The Bucks had their season-opening 10-game winning streak snapped Saturday night, losing 3-2 to Youngstown.

The Bucks will host their bitter rivals the Killer Bees on Tuesday morning before heading out on a season-long three game, eight day road trip.

In Laredo's 3-2 loss to Youngstown Saturday night Igor Agarunov and Chris Korchinski scored goals, with Rane Carnegie, Matt Summers, and Corey Courchene picking up assists. Dustin Traylen stopped 25 of 28 Steelhounds shots that came his way. Laredo came up empty on all nine power-play opportunities, while allowing the "Hounds to go 1-5 on their power-play.

The Bucks are led in scoring by Veteran Jeff Bes (9-13=22). Bes is now second in the CHL in scoring, while Korchinski (7-11=18) is fourth in the league.

The Killer Bees come into Tuesday's game on a three-game losing streak, including the 4-2 loss to the Bucks on November 3rd at the Dodge Arena. Rio allowed three third-period goals to Youngstown on Sunday afternoon to lose 4-2. Josh Bonar and Rob Voltera gave the Bees a 2-1 lead heading into the third period, before the ‘Hounds stormed back. Jeff Van Nynatten stopped 37 of 41 ‘Hounds shots in taking the loss in net.

Rio is lead in scoring by Travis Banga (3-8=11), and David Masse (3-4=7).

**Bucks Notes**

*This will be the sixth straight season the Bucks have played a home matinee game during the week. The Bucks played three morning weekday games at home in 2003-04.

*Laredo has a 6-1 record all-time in home weekday matinee games, playing in front of an average of 7,122 fans, with a sell-out crowd of 8,002 in 2003, and two crowds of 8,000 fans, also during the 2003 season.

*Last season the Bucks beat Corpus Christi 2-1 in overtime on December 6th in the matinee game, in front of 6,212 fans, as Jeff Bes scored the game-winning OT goal.

*This will be the second time the Bucks and Bees will tangle in a weekday matinee game at the LEC. The Bucks beat the Bees 5-2 on March 1, 2006.

*The Bucks will depart for their road trip to Rocky Mountain, Colorado, and Odessa at midnight on Tuesday. The team will travel the 1,114 mile, 18-hour bus trip to Broomfield, Colorado, arriving on Wednesday evening. The team will practice Thursday at the Broomfield Events Center.
