LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, were defeated by the Texas Brahmas 4-2.
The Laredo Bucks and the Texas Brahmas went head to head Wednesday night at the Laredo Energy Arena. This was the sixth meeting for the two teams. They will see each other five more times during the regular season.
The Texas Brahmas were the first to strike Wednesday night, when Ross Rouleau found the net at 6:22 in the first period. The Bucks had a powerplay opportunity at 9:05, but were unable to capitalize. The Brahmas outshot the Bucks 11-6 in the opening period of play.
The second period brought three more goals by the Texas Brahmas. The Bucks were still unable to light the lamp as the period came to an end, with the Brahmas leading 4-0. The Bucks were outshot 13-7 in the period.
The Laredo Bucks found the net at 10:50 into the third period. Ryan Sparling scored a shorthanded unassisted goal to put the Bucks on the board. The Bucks would continue to battle throughout the period. Neil Trimm scored with 46.2 seconds remaining in the game to close the gap 4-2. Trimm was assisted by Matt Pierce on the goal. The Bucks and the Brahmas each had 11 shots on goal during the final frame.
