
Bucks End Road Trip with Shoot-Out Win

LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, defeated the Rapid City Rush 3-2 in a shoot-out.
The Laredo Bucks faced the Rapid City Rush for the second straight night on Saturday in South Dakota. Last night the Bucks fell to the Rush 4-3.
Ryan Rondeau was tested early in the first period, but he was able to deny the Rush shooters. Both teams had several scoring opportunities, each unable to light the lamp. The Bucks had three powerplays during the period, but were unable to score on the Rush netminder. Laredo also successfully denied the Rush powerplay. The Bucks outshot Rapid City 18-10 in the opening frame.
Laredo began the second period with 1:30 left on the powerplay, but it would be cut short when Ryan Sparling was called for goalie interference at 58 seconds into the period. Neither team was once again able to score on the man advantage. David Inman finally broke through scoring on a wrister at 9:44, giving the Bucks a 1-0 lead. Inman was assisted by Joseph Harcharik and Matt Hanson. Michael Couch scored for the Rush late in the second at 17:34 tying the game 1-1. But the Bucks quickly regained the lead 27 seconds later. Rusty Masters scored the goal assisted by A.J. Hau and Adam Rivet at 18:01. The Bucks outshot the Rush 14-8 in the period.
The Bucks controlled the first 9 minutes of the third period until Scott Wray was able to tie the game at 9:05 for the Rush. Neither team was able to take the lead again during regulation. The Bucks outshot the Rush 48-28 through regulation.
After five additional minutes of play in overtime, the game still could not be decided forcing a shoot-out. Erik Boisvert was the first shooter for the Laredo Bucks in the shoot-out, knocking the goal past the Rush goalie hitting the top left corner. Matt Hanson also found the back of the net for the Bucks. Ryan Rondeau denied all four shooters for the Rush, giving the Bucks a 3-2 victory.
