Late Goal Sinks Bees, Fall 3-1 to Texas

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (20-24-7) fell in their sixth straight game by a 3-1 score to the Texas Brahmas (26-17-8) on Saturday night. Tomas Klempa scored the lone Bees goal in the second period. Wylie Rogers made 29 saves in net.

The Texas Brahmas took a one nothing lead against the Killer Bees just 1:59 into the first period as Phil Fox took a bad bounce too the net and after three attempts was able to force it past Bees goalie Wylie Rogers.

The Bees tied the game in the second period as Tomas Klempa scored a rebound goal, his team leading 23rd of the season. Dan Gendur and Scott Balan earned the assists on the power-play goal.

The goal snapped a scoreless streak of 238:31 by Texas goalie Mark Guggenberger who set a new CHL record.

With 12:14 to play in the second period, and while the Bees were on the power-play the Texas Brahmas were awarded a penalty shot but Wylie Rogers turned away the Adam Hogg opportunity.

In the third period the Texas Brahmas would retake the lead late in the third period as Chad Woollard scored his 20th of the season while the Brahmas were on the man-advantage. Ross Rouleau earned the assist.

At the end of the period the Bees would try and tie the game but a penalty call against Nicolas Rioux and an empty net goal cemented the Brahmas victory.

The Bees return to action this Wednesday against the Laredo Bucks at 7:00 p.m. from the Laredo Energy Arena. Fans can follow the game on 956sports.com and CHL-TV.
