Bucks clip Bats 4-2: won 3 of last 4

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Austin Ice Bats Friday night 4-2 at the Laredo Entertainment Center. With the win the Bucks have won three of their last four, and improve to 19-7-2 (40 points).

Andrew Desjardins scored a goal and handed out two assists, while James Hiebert picked up three assists to lead the Bucks.

The Bucks (11-3 at home) jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 5:17 into the first period when Jeff Bes sent a shot from the top of the left circle past Austin goaltender Miguel Beaudry. It was Bes' 15th goal of the season, and his first since November 24th against New Mexico. Hiebert and Desjardins picked up the assists on the goal.

The Bucks, who were outshot in the period 6-4, killed off three Ice Bats power-plays the first period.

The Bucks made it 2-0 at the 8:22 mark of the second period when Andrew Desjardins scored his ninth goal of the season from the left circle past Beaudry, Hiebert picked up the assist on Desjardins' tally.

Austin (6-19-1) cut the Bucks lead to 2-1 less than a minute later at the 9:12 mark when Kurtis Kisio stole the puck in the Laredo end and sent the puck in from the creast right in front Bucks goaltender Kevin Beech.

Laredo struck back when Serge Dube rocketed a slap shot past Beaudry on the power-play, making it 3-1 Bucks. Desjardins and Bes picked up the assists.

Laredo's power-play came into the game ranked 16th in the league.

The Bucks outshot the Ice Bats in the second period 19-4.

Austin cut the Bucks lead to 3-2 just 2:53 into the third period when Mike Bartlett scored off of a rebound from the right circle past Beech.

Laredo made it 4-2 at the 10:41 mark when Adam Rivet sent a slap shot from the left circle past Beaudry. It was Rivet's seventh goal of the year, with Hiebert picking up his third assist of the game.

The Bucks outshot the Ice Bats 16-11 in the third period.

Beech picked up the win in net, improving his record to 8-1-1. Beech stopped 19 of 21 Austin shots.

Beaudry (4-12) was saddled with the loss for Austin, stopping 35 shots.

The Bucks and Ice Bats will meet again Saturday night at the LEC, with Laredo wearing Christmas Jersey's which will be auctioned off after the game.

Also Saturday night there will be a special on-ice entertainer to perform during both intermissions.
