Waterloo Bucks News Release
Waterloo, IA - The Waterloo Bucks are pleased to announce the introduction of a new community initiative program entitled 'Our Bucks'. The program is designed to give the Bucks an avenue for sharing community based outreach conducted by the team, players and staff throughout the year, while enhancing and promoting fundraising in the Cedar Valley under the new banner of the 'Our Bucks' program.
"The Our Bucks initiative is a great way for the Waterloo Bucks organizations to reach our goals of providing support to the community year round. The Cedar Valley has given a lot of support to the team and our organization, and we want to be able to pay that forward" adds Ben Knaack Community Relations Manager for the Waterloo Bucks.
The Waterloo Bucks, in collaboration with its ownership group's charitable arm, The Kernels Foundation, plan to expand on its community outreach and financial giving in the Cedar Valley by increasing the presence of the Bucks players and the team mascot, Bucky, at various non-profit and community events. The Bucks staff will also be volunteering in our community to enhance the quality of life in the Cedar Valley.
The 'Our Bucks' program will continue to work with local non-profits by conducting special jersey auctions at Waterloo Bucks games during the 2016 season. This year, 'Our Bucks' will support The Boys & Girls Club, The Beyond Pink TEAM and The Waterloo Honor Flight through jersey auctions.
The Bucks have added an additional new program called 'Bucks Baseball Buddies'. For every regular season home game, tickets will be donated to a local youth group or health advocacy organization to attend the game and have a special on-field meeting with Bucks' field manager, Scott Douglas.
"The Waterloo Bucks are dedicated to being a community partner and we feel the need to give back to the community that we call home", says Bucks General Manager Dan Corbin.
Since the end of the 2015 Bucks season, the 'Our Bucks' Community Support Initiative program has contributed to the Trike Track in Waterloo, donated tickets to Bucks games throughout the community to fulfill numerous donation requests and supported the Independence School District Athletic Complex Renovation. Throughout the season, Bucky and Bucks players make over 50 appearances in the Cedar Valley.
'Our Bucks' Purpose Statement:
The purpose of Our Bucks is to connect the citizens of Waterloo and the Greater Cedar Valley with the Waterloo Bucks Baseball Organization by promoting community involvement, ownership and building the bond between the fans and the organization."
Bucks single game tickets go on sale on Monday, May 16th. The Bucks will open their 23rd season at home on Tuesday, May 31st against the St. Cloud Rox at 7:05pm. Season tickets, 3-game ticket packages and coupon books are available now by calling the Bucks at (319) 232-0500.
