August 13, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Bucks and the Central Hockey League announced today the dates for the upcoming 2005 CHL All-Star Game that will take place at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The event will cover three days, January 10-12. For more information call (956)-718-BUCKS (2825) or log onto www.laredobucks.com.

"I think this is an incredible opportunity to showcase Laredo and Nuevo Laredo and what they have to offer to all the CHL teams, media and people from all over the southwestern United States," said Bucks CEO Kiki DeAyala. "Plus this will be an economic boost with people visiting, eating and staying in hotels. The 2005 CHL All-Star Game will provide terrific exposure for our great city."

The All-Star Game banquet will take place on Monday, January 10th and will be held at the LEC. The CHL skills competition will take place separate from the game and will be held on Tuesday, January 11th. The 2005 CHL All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, January 12th.

"The Central Hockey League All-Star spotlight will shine brightly on the cities of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, plus the Laredo Bucks organization, as the top players in the CHL showcase their skills in one of our league's most outstanding facilities," said CHL President Brad Treliving. "All the necessary components are in place for an exceptional 2005 CHL All-Star Game, and we congratulate the Bucks organization on their achievements and preparations to date."

In a change in recent tradition the All-Star Game events will span three days with the skills competition taking place on a separate night from the actual game.

"The 2005 CHL All-Star Game represents a big honor for the Laredo Bucks organization," said Bucks President John Beckelhymer. "This is a great chance to showcase the cities of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, the Laredo Entertainment Center, the Laredo Bucks and the Central Hockey League. By spreading it out over three days it will allow the fans, the players and the cities to get the full flavor of the events. We are going to have a three day party on the border."

The CHL All-Star Game matches the best players from the Northern Conference against the best and brightest from the Southern Conference. Last year's game took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico and resulted in a 12-9 win for the Northern Conference.

In just two short years, Laredo has already had a major impact on the CHL All-Star Game. Prior to the 2004 game, Bucks forward Brent Cullaton captured the fastest skater award while Bucks forward Patrik Nilson won the accuracy shooting contest in the skills competition.

In 2003 at Oklahoma City, Bucks forward Chris Grenville was the CHL All-Star Game MVP when he tallied four goals in the contest, a 10-6 win for the Southern Conference. Grenville also won the hardest shot portion of the skills competition, recording a blast of more than 92 mph.
