Bucks Announce Broadcaster Of The Night

LAREDO, Texas â The 2004 CHL Champion Laredo Bucks announced on Saturday night that Bucks season ticket holder Dean Merkley has been selected as the Bucks Broadcaster of the Night of Friday, November 5th. This is the first of several prizes that Bucks season ticket holders will be eligible for this season. For Bucks season or single game tickets call (956)-718-BUCKS (2825) or log onto www.laredobucks.com and purchase online.
Merkley will ride the bus with the team to Corpus Christi. He will then serve as the color commentator for the game on the radio on 94.9 The New Qure FM.
"This is the first of many unique exciting prizes this year for Bucks season ticket holders," Bucks President John Beckelhymer said. "We will be doing this throughout the season to the show our appreciation to season ticket holders for the loyalty that they show the Bucks."
All Bucks season ticket holders are automatically entered into the contest with the winners selected at random.
"I am very excited," said Merkley. "I am looking at it as a big opportunity to do something as a Laredoan and a Canadian fellow who has grown up watching and playing hockey. The Bucks and hockey have been such a positive for Laredo and now I get to see how the players get prepared for the game and get a behind the scenes look at the Bucks."
The 46-year old Merkley is originally from Ayr, Ontario. He owns Fitzley Incorporated in Laredo.
Wayne Amann, a veteran CHL Broadcaster, will call the action this Friday. Amann is filling in for regular Bucks play-by-play man Joe Dominey, who is calling a game for the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
