Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Shreveport Mudbugs (19-13-5) got a goal from their point leader and stellar goaltending to help shutout their arch-rival in the Lone Star Brahmas, 2-0 at George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.
After a scoreless opening period, it was Bugs' point leader Drake Morse who cashed in on the PP in the 2nd period. Morse raced through the slot and backhanded home his 11th goal of the season at 10:48 to give SHV a 1-0 edge. Eric Vitale and Logan Heroux earned the helpers on the game's first tally. The Mudbugs led in SOG, 19-15 after two.
The Bugs had to survive a push from LSB in third period, but it was Heroux hammering home the EN goal at 18:47 to cap off a 2-0 shutout victory over the Lone Star Brahmas.
Simon Bucheler made 23 stops to earn his third shutout of the season and help SHV snap a four-game losing streak.
The Bugs and Brahmas will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George's Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
