The Shreveport Mudbugs (37-16-7) got another big performance from Drake Morse and Simon Bucheler to end the regular season with a 2-0 shutout over the El Paso Rhinos at El Paso County Coliseum Saturday night.
The Bugs got on the board first tonight as Drake Morse continued his hot ways and came around the far side and faked out the goalie and flipped in his team-leading 22nd goal of the season to put SHV up 1-0 at 2:40 of the opening period. Nick Marino and Jaden Goldie earned the helpers on the game's first tally.
SHV got more from Morse as he jabbed in his second goal of the night from the far post at 17:30 to make it a 2-0 contest. Goldie and Marino earned the assists once again. Bugs led in SOG, 27-11 after two.
The Bugs held off any surge from El Paso and completed a 2-0 victory.
Simon Bucheler earned his franchise-setting and league-leading 28th win along w/ grabbing his sixth shutout which is another franchise record in net.
