
Buccaneers Lose Heartbreaker, 8-6

DES MOINES - The Des Moines Buccaneers started off strong tonight against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Matt White scored the first goal of the night just after three and a half minutes into the first period. He was assisted by J.P. Burkemper and Ryan McKiernan. Waterloo would score just after the five minute mark. The Buccaneers would follow with two powerplay goals less than ten seconds apart. Nick Pryor scored at 12:56 with assists from Ryan Walters and Joe Gleason. With the puck dropping just after the goal, the Bucs were able to put the puck between the pipes again at 13:05. Brett Bruneteau would score a powerplay goal with help from Matt White and Joe Gleason. Waterloo would score one final goal in the period. The Buccaneers would end the period with 12 shots on goal and Waterloo had 14 shots on goal. The final score of the period was 3-2.
The second period started with Waterloo scoring at the 6:33 mark, followed by a powerplay goal at 8:38. J.P. Burkemper would score a third powerplay goal at 17:54 in the period. He would be assisted by Nick Pryor and Ryan Walters. The Buccaneers would have 9 shots on goal and Waterloo would have 13. The final score of the period was 4-4.
At the start of the third period, the 3003 fans would get to their feet as the Buccaneers scored less than a minute into the period. The goal was put between the pipes on the powerplay by Ryan Walters with assists from Brett Bruneteau and Nick Pryor. Waterloo would score at 3:35, followed by a Buccaneer goal at the 10:05 mark. Nick Pryor scored on another powerplay with an assist with Ryan Walters and Brett Bruneteau. Waterloo would score the next three goals. The Bucs would be outshot 11 to 9 in third period and would lose the game, 8-6.
