Buccaneers Fall To Musketeers in Shootout; 4-3

DES MOINES, IA - The Des Moines Buccaneers fell in a shootout to the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday night at Buccaneer Arena. The shootout loss would be the first of the season for the Bucs; with the last shootout against the Sioux Falls Stampede leading to a win for the team.
The game was scoreless through the first period until Chris Stafne, on assists from Jack Berger and Mitch Cain, put the Bucs on the board at 8:58. Sioux City would answer back with a goal at 9:37, tying the game at 1-1. The Musketeers scored again at 13:14 before the Buccaneers tied the game with just five second left in the second. The goal from H.T. Lenz, with an assist from Danny Heath, set up what would be an exciting third period. Sioux City jumped ahead midway through the third but the Buccaneers were not done. On their fourth powerplay of the night, Yasin Cissé would sneak one past Sioux City's goaltender, off of assists from Ryan Walters and Austin Coldwell, tying the game. The crowd of 2582 would be on their feet as that goal would tie the game 3-3 and send the teams into a five minute overtime period.
Neither team was able to score in the overtime period; as both teams defenses stepped up to the challenge putting the game into a shootout situation. Sioux City would score two goals in the shootout, as Des Moines was unable to come up with a goal. The Musketeers won the game with a final score of 4-3.
The Buccaneers had 40 shots on goal and went 1 for 4 on the powerplay. Goalie Eric Mihalik would record the overtime loss; stopping 35 of 38 shots on goal.
The Bucs will play at home on Thursday, November 19th against the Fargo Force. It's Student Night - when fans present a student or faculty ID at the arena box office they will receive a great 2-for-1 ticket offer. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 PM.
