Chilliwack Bruins News Release
Chilliwack BC - The Chilliwack Bruins took some time out of their busy schedule on Sunday to mentor some young hockey players and also showcase their skills as the Bruins put on their Second Annual Tim Horton's Jamboree followed by the Super Skills Competition.
Throughout the morning and afternoon at Prospera Centre, nineteen different teams from the Fraser Valley came and participated in the Tim Horton's Jamboree. Bruins players were on hand as honorary Captains, providing support and advise to the teams of young players. Over 300 kids took part in this Jamboree and the Bruins would like to thank Tim Horton's for their generous support to the Fraser Valley.
The Bruins then took to the ice in front of about 500 fans for the skills competition. Just like in the pros, the Bruins players were put to the test to see who was the fastest skater, who had the hardest shot, who was the most accurate shooter and what skills competition would be complete without a pie in the face (Jeff Einhorn - the lucky recipient) and a breakaway contest to seal the deal.
Team Hiller defeated Team Price on the final shooter of the shootout. Goaltender Luke Siemens for Team Hiller stopped the attempts of both Nick Holden and Mark Santorelli to give his team the lead, then Oscar Moller was able to beat Mark Friesen in the longest shootout shot of the day, Moller taking about five full seconds in front of the goal, trying to find a weakness, before finally slipping the puck thru Friesen's legs for the victory.
