
Jamie Benn named WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. - The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is first year forward Jamie Benn of the Kelowna Rockets.
Benn scored three goals and added six assists to go with a +5 rating in three games over the last week, helping the Rockets post a 2-1 record in that span.
On Tuesday, January 15th, Benn notched a power play goal and an assist as the Rockets fell 5-3 to the Kamloops Blazers in Kamloops, B.C.
On Friday, January 18th, Benn notched an assist as the Rockets pulled off a 3-2 victory over the visiting Chilliwack Bruins in Kelowna, B.C. Benn was named the game's 1st star for his efforts.
On Saturday, January 19th, Benn scored two goals and added four assists for a career high six points, and posted a +4 rating to lead the Rockets to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Prince George Cougars. Benn was also named the game' ;s 2nd star for his performance.
Benn, an 18 year old from Victoria, BC, joined the Rockets from the Victoria Grizzlies back on October 1st, 2007. He was named the BCHL Rookie of the Year in 2006-07 after scoring 42 goals and 65 points in 53 games played. He was selected in the 5th round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars.
The WHL has also nominated Joey Perricone of the Moose Jaw Warriors for the ADT CHL Goaltender of the Week Award.
