Edmonton, AB - The CHL/NHL Home Hardware Top Prospects Skills Competition and All-Star Game is an event built for scouts. One of the all-time greatest will not be in attendance this time after passing away earlier this after a bout with cancer. So it is with great honor that the Edmonton Oil Kings and CHL announce the formation of the Lorne Davis Award at this year's event in Edmonton.
The Regina native dedicated over 42 years of his life to the fine art of scouting hockey talent. He spent over 28 years in the Edmonton Oilers organization and was instrumental in building 5 Stanley Cup Championship teams.
The winning team of the Top Prospects Skills Competition will receive the prestigious award in a special ceremony at centre ice with Lorne's son and current Edmonton Oiler scout Brad Davis following Tuesday's skills competition.
