
Bruins Hold off Wings

Austin Bruins News Release
The Austin Bruins traveled to the Odde Center in Aberdeen South Dakota to wrap up the final series against the Aberdeen Wings. The Bruins started the night with the majority of the momentum. The Bruins took a 1-0 lead as Matt Hansen fed Jeremy Finger. At the end of one period of play Austin led 1-0 and had outshot Aberdeen 12-10. The second period Lane Mahoney scored a power play goal tying the game 1-1. The Bruins were able to regain the lead on the power play as Jon Gehrt went top cheese over the shoulder of Marcus Zelzer. Assisting was Matt Hansen and Charlie Adams. The Bruins added another power play goal, this time it was John Simonson assisting was Matt Hansen and AJ Reid. At the end of two periods Austin led 3-1. The third frame the Wings made it a 1 goal game as they were able to slide one past Nicholas Lehr. The Bruins grinded the entire period and came out victorious with a 3-2 victory.
