Bruins Fall in Road Finale

The Austin Bruins hit the road for their final matchup in the regular season against the Alexandria Blizzard. The matchup will be a preview of the first round playoffs as the Bruins will play Alexandria in round one. Tommy Williams started the scoring for the Blizzard as he was left alone on front of the Bruins net. Johnny Simonson set up CJ Smith to answer back. Alexandria's power play gave the Blizzard a 2-1 lead. At the first intermission Alexandria outshot Austin 13-8. The second period the Blizzard took a two goal lead just a couple of minutes into the period. The Bruins were able to capitalize on the power play to cut the lead in half. Jonathan Gerht scored the goal assisting was AJ Reid and Chase McDonald. The Bruins tied the game as Jeremy Finger sent the puck in front of the net and Brandon Wahlin found the twine Matt Hansen also assisted on the goal. The Bruins hit the locker room with a 3-3 score in to periods of play the Bruins had outshot the Blizzard 22-20. The third period the Blizzard scored a shorthanded goal to take a 4-3 lead. The Blizzard added one more as Dylan Zink slammed one in from the point. The Blizzard beat the Bruins 5-3 in the final meeting of the regular season. The Bruins will wrap up the regular season next weekend against the Coulee Region Chill in Onalaska Wisconsin. You can catch the Broadcast on Fast Hockey.com or AM 1480 KAUS.
