Bruins Fall 5-3, Split Weekend Series with Aberdeen

AUSTIN, MN - Aberdeen spoils the Bruins Saturday as the Wings split the weekend series by taking tonight's contest 5-3.
After a big shootout win last night, the Bruins looked ahead to Saturday night and a potential weekend sweep of division rival Aberdeen. 11:43 into the first period, Josh Giuliani would snap a one-timer past Wings goalie Cole Moore to give the Bruins the early 1-0 lead. Austin Salani and Damon Furuseth would be credited on the assist as they would set up Giuliani clean on top of the near side face-off circle. A little under four minutes, Brodrick Williams would sneak one past Ethan Robertson on a redirected tip off the initial shot from Landon Parker to tie the game up at 1-1. After the period, Robertson would not return to the game with a lower-body injury and would be replaced by Trent Wiemken. Robertson would stop 12 of the 13 shots he would face on the night.
During the second period, the Bruins would get one back thanks to the 6th goal of the season from Walter Zacher to give the Bruins a then 2-1 lead. That lead would only last until 9:12 into the second period when Nils Forselius would blast one past Wiemken to tie the game back up at 2-2. Moments later, Forselius would get his second of the game to give the Wings a then 3-2 lead. Before the period would end, Kyle Contessa would make it a 4-2 lead for Aberdeen after the second period at Riverside Arena.
Late in the third period, the Bruins would find themselves on the Chad Thomas Thrivent Financial Power Play as Jackson Luther would tip the puck past Moore to pull the Bruins back within one goal. With the net empty on the other side for an extra attacker for the Bruins, the Wings leading rookie Nikolai Tishkevich would bang home the empty netter and seal the deal on a Wings 5-3 victory. Wiemken would be saddled with the loss as the Fargo, ND native would stop 15 of the 18 shots he would face on the night.
Up next the Bruins start a season-long six-game road trip as they travel to Bismarck, North Dakota next weekend to take on the Bobcats. Game time for both Friday and Saturday nights is slated for 7:15 PM CST.
