Sudbury Wolves News Release
(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that two more players, defenceman Braydon Bruce and forward Lucas Di Giantommaso, have committed to the hockey club following the end of the Wolves training camp.
"We are very happy that Braydon Bruce has chosen to commit to the team and we believe he will be a big part of our team over the next few years," said Rob Papineau, Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager. "He had a tremendous summer of development, and he was excellent at main camp. He is going to play this season at St Andrew's College which has a great history of development under coach David Manning. He is a very smooth skating 6'5 right-shot defenceman who has a smart physical presence on the back end."
Braydon was selected in the 11th round of the 2022 OHL Priority Selection by the Wolves. Wolves scouting report describes Braydon as a towering defenseman with excellent gap control and reach to effectively defend his zone. He constantly shows his ability to angle his opponent effectively by keeping the play in front of him and to the outside. During his 2021-22 season campaign he played for the Markham Major U16 AAA team playing 21 games and registered 1 goal and 7 assists. He also played 6 games with the Markham Majors U16 in the OHL Cup where he notched 2 points (1G-1A) and was a plus-4. Braydon is a 6'5, 180lbs, right-shot defenceman who will look to get his first taste of OHL hockey this Monday as the Wolves take on the 67's at 4pm in Ottawa wearing number 20.
"Lucas Di Giantommaso was outstanding at both the orientation and main camp," added Rob Papineau.
"He is a fast smart forward who led our camp in scoring. He has played with many skilled players in Oakville off that 2005 powerhouse team. He has great speed and has a great shot to go along with his hockey sense. As a late 2005 birthday player, we look forward to his development over the next couple seasons."
Lucas was selected by the Wolves in the 8th round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. Wolves scouting report describes Lucas as an exceptional puck-carrier with the inclination to create space for himself almost out of nowhere. He has excellent sharp edges and slick puck skills. He plays the game the right way with a strong compete level. During the 2021-22 season Lucas played for the Blyth Academy Bruins U16 and U18 teams. Lucas played 6 games with the U16 team prior to playing with the U18 team and registered 10 points (4G-6A). Throughout his 18 games played with the U18 team he recorded 30points (21G-9A). Lucas will also look to get his first taste of OHL hockey this Monday in Ottawa wearing number 92.
