Brooklyn Re-Assigns Shengelia and Taylor to NBA D-League Affiliate Springfield Armor

NEW YORK, March 15, 2013 - The Brooklyn Nets today re-assigned Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor to the Springfield Armor, the Nets' NBA Development League affiliate. The assignments are the record 153rd and 154th of the 2012-13 NBA and NBA D-League seasons, while the pair are two of the record 56 NBA players to be assigned to their NBA D-League affiliate this season.

Shengelia (6-8, 207, Republic of Georgia) rejoins the Armor having played in 15 games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.2 points and 3.9 minutes. In his previous three assignments to Springfield, he played in six games, averaging 26.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 37.8 minutes. He recorded a 22-point, 12-assist, 10-rebound triple-double in his NBA D-League debut on Dec. 21 against the Erie BayHawks, and returned to the Armor to record a 39-point outing on Jan. 24 against the Maine Red Claws. That 39 point game is tied for third-most points scored in the NBA D-League this season. He was named NBA D-League Performer of the Week on Jan. 28.

Taylor (6-3, 185, Kansas) has appeared in 32 games for the Nets this season, averaging 1.8 points and 5.2 minutes. During his previous assignment to Springfield he played in four games, averaging 26.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 41.0 minutes.

The duo is expected to join the Armor today and be available tonight when the team hosts the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in Springfield at 7 p.m. ET.
