Brooklyn Comes up with a Dud, Falls 7-1

BROOKLYN, NY - Despite an early lead, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Short Season, Class A affiliate of the New York Mets, dropped a 7-1 decision to the Aberdeen Ironbirds on Wednesday night, Independence Day, at MCU Park in the opener of a three-game set.

BIG MOMENTS

Trailing 1-0, Aberdeen rallied to take a 2-1 lead on Doran Thurchin's two-run home run against Cyclones starter Briam Campusano in the third. Alexis Torres added a two-run single against Campusano in the sixth, pushing the lead to 5-1.

David Miranda's RBI single in the bottom of the second inning gave the Cyclones a 1-0 advantage.

Aberdeen starter Jimmy Murphy struck out five over five innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and a walk for the victory. KEY CYCLONES CONTRIBUTORS

The New York Mets announced Wednesday that RHP Noah Syndergaard is schedule to make a rehab start with Brooklyn Sunday vs. Staten Island.

Brooklyn played at home on the fourth of July for the sixth time in the 18-year history of the franchise.
