Brooklyn Assigns Shengelia and Taylor to Springfield

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Brooklyn Nets General Manager Billy King announced Monday that forward Tornike (Toko) Shengelia and guard Tyshawn Taylor have been assigned to the Springfield Armor.

Shengelia and Taylor will make their second trip during the 2013-14 season as the two were assigned on December 21 to their NBA Development League affiliate, playing in two games with the Armor.

Shengelia made two starts with Springfield over his short stint, averaging 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds while with the Armor. Shengelia scored a game-high 23 points on 7-of-13 shooting in a 93-74 victory over the Maine Red Claws on December 22. Prior to his re-assignment, Shengelia was averaging 1.4 points and 0.9 rebounds over 15 games with the Nets.

Taylor was averaging 4.3 points and 1.8 assists over 20 games (three starts) with the Nets this season. Over his two games (one start) with the Armor, Taylor averaged 9.0 points including a 15-point outburst in his first game with Springfield on December 21 against Sioux Falls.

Shengelia will wear #23, while Taylor will wear #4. Attached is an updated roster.

The Armor travel to Reno, Nevada for the NBA D-League Showcase on Wednesday, January 8 for a 10:00 p.m. tip against the host Reno Bighorns. Following Wednesday's action, Springfield will conclude the Showcase against the Iowa Energy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9. Both games will take place inside the Reno Events Center.
