Armor Trade Dexter Pittman to Austin in Exchange for Draft Pick

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, announced Monday that the team has traded center Dexter Pittman to the Austin Toros, NBA Development League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, in exchange for Austin's original third round draft pick in the 2014 NBA D-League Draft.
Springfield acquired the NBA D-League rights to Dexter Pittman on November 29, 2013, but the 6-11 center did not appear in any games for the Armor this season. Pittman has played in 37 games (34 starts) in the NBA D-League throughout his career, but never as a part of the Armor. Over those 37 career games, he averaged 13.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game over the course of 26.5 minutes on the floor. All 37 games have come as a part of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, NBA D-League affiliate of the Miami Heat.
Pittman has played a total of 48 games (six starts) in the NBA as a member of the Heat and Memphis Grizzlies. He holds career averages of 2.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 7.2 minutes per game in the NBA. Pittman was on Miami's roster when the Heat won the 2012 NBA Championship, appearing in three postseason games and making one start. Originally selected in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft (32nd overall), Pittman was traded while on assignment at Sioux Falls to the Memphis Grizzlies along with a second round draft choice and cash considerations on February 21, 2013 in exchange for the draft rights to forward Ricky Sanchez. He was then waived by the Grizzlies on April 14, 2013 after playing in seven games and participated in the NBA Summer League as a part of the San Antonio Spurs.
The Armor travel to Reno, Nevada for the NBA D-League Showcase on Wednesday, January 8 for a 10:00 p.m. tip against the host Reno Bighorns. Following Wednesday's action, Springfield will conclude the Showcase against the Iowa Energy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9. Both games will take place inside the Reno Events Center.
