July 27, 2009-Laredo, TX-The Laredo Broncos managed only two runs as they lost to the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings by a score of 8-2 at Veterans Field, on Monday.

The WhiteWings jumped out to the early lead in the first. Rico Santana hit a rbi single and Welinson Baez added a sacrifice fly. Rio Grande Valley led by a score of 2-0.

The Broncos answered in their half of the first. Luis Ugueto led off with a double. Then with two outs, Argelis Nunez knocked him in with a double of his own. That made the score 2-1.

The WhiteWings got that run back in the third. Brian Nichols hit a solo home run, his sixth of the season. That made the score 3-1.

Rio Grande Valley extended their lead in the fifth. Rico Santana delivered a two run single to make the score 5-1.

The WhiteWings added on three more runs in the eighth. A bases loaded walk to Sandy De Leon scored a run. That was followed by a two run single by Augustin Septimo, making the score 8-1.

Broncos' starter Tano Tijerina went seven plus innings for the Broncos, giving up seven runs on 10 hits. He walked one batter and struck out one. Edgar Soto finished off the eighth for Laredo.

The Broncos scored a run in the bottom of the eighth. Luis Ugueto doubled with one out, and then scored on a single by Mario Mendez. That made the score 8-2.

Edgar Soto pitched a scoreless eighth as the Broncos trailed by six heading to the bottom of the ninth. Ryan Dixon came in looking to finish off the game.

The Broncos went quietly in the ninth as they fell to Rio Grande Valley by a score of 8-2.

The Broncos scored 2 runs on 8 hits and had 1 error while the WhiteWings scored 8 runs on 12 hits and had 0 errors.
