On Saturday, September 1st, Beloit Snappers' manager Jeff Smith made a very special announcement recognizing Alex Burnett and Cole Devries as the co-Brodie Trophy players of the year. The two starting pitchers had exceptional seasons en-route to leading the Snappers to a playoff birth.

Alex Burnett went 9-8 with a 3.02 ERA in 27 starts this season. Burnett was second on the team in strikeouts with 117 and opponents batted a measly .239 against the right hander.

Burnett was drafted by the Twins in the 12th round of the 2005 draft. Alex is a graduate of Ocean View High School in California. In 2006 he led the Elizabethton Twins with 71 strikeouts and was second on the team with 71.1 innings pitched.

Cole Devries went 9-5 with a 3.41 ERA in 25 starts this year. Devries was second on team with 148 innings pitched and third on the team with 108 strikeouts.

Devries graduated from the University of Minnesota and signed with the Twins as a non-drafted free agent on August 22, 2006.
