Kansas City Brigade News Release
Kansas City, Mo. (Feb. 22) - Some of the major battles for roster spots that had lasted long into training camp came to an end after Tuesday's scrimmage against the Arizona Rattlers. The team performed well on both sides of the ball, scoring six times on touchdown passes. Head coach Kevin Porter and his staff had many decisions to make as Sunday's deadline approaches for the league-mandated 24-man roster.
Seven players were released Wednesday: wide receiver John Booth, defensive backs Ronnie Amadi and Andre Burns, and linemen Wilky Bazile, Jon Hall, Jeremy Ward and Derrick Warford. Only Booth, a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kan., was on the inaugural 2006 team. Amadi and Burns played at Kansas and Missouri Western, respectively.
Amidst all of the roster changes, the Brigade hit the waiver wire to sign fullback Joe Hall (6-1, 280, Kansas State), who opened camp with the New Orleans VooDoo. An Arena Football rookie, he joins Michael Bishop and Kenny McEntyre as former Wildcats on the roster. Hall played for Bill Snyder in 2001-02, alongside Ell Roberson, Josh Scobey, Aaron Lockett, Ben Leber and Joe Rheem. He spent the previous five seasons in NFL training camps, including the Chiefs in 2004 and 2005.
The Brigade now has 33 players that count on the 37-man training camp roster. Two others-defensive back Rob Carey and offensive lineman Jamarr Ward-are on Injured Reserve.
