Utah Blaze News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - The Arena Football League Writers' Association (AFLWA) announced their preseason All-Arena Team and the Utah Blaze were one of two teams with three selections: WR SIAHA BURLEY (5-10, 176, Central Florida), FB/LB FRANK CARTER (6-0, 258, MacMurray) and C/DL HANS OLSEN (6-4, 306, BYU).
"All three of those guys are well-deserving of those honors," said Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "But, each one of those guys would also tell you that executing on the field is more important and lifting the championship trophy in New Orleans on July 29 is the ultimate reward."
Burley, who earned Second-Team All-Arena in 2006 and was the AFLWA's Offensive Player of the Year in 2005, set AFL expansion records last year with 136 receptions for 1,934 yards and 44 touchdowns. Burley enters his second season with the Blaze in 2007.
Carter, who is a former All-Arena performer and enters his first season with the Blaze, recorded four sacks in one game last season against the New York Dragons while playing for the Nashville Kats. The former MacMurray College product once had 9.5 sacks in one season.
Olsen, who enters his second season with the Blaze, was named to the All-Ironman Team in 2006. The former Cougar had two sacks and didn't allow a sack as the anchor on the line last season.
Two Colorado Crush players, WR DAMIAN HARRELL and DB RASHAD FLOYD, were named the preseason offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively, as voted by members of the AFLWA.
Austin's SEDRICK ROBINSON was named special teams player of the year, while Grand Rapids' TROY EDWARDS was tabbed rookie of the year in the preseason poll.
