Kansas City Brigade News Release

Kansas City, Mo. (Nov. 28) - Training camp is still three months away, but the Brigade's 37-man roster is starting to take shape. The team announced on Tuesday the addition of rookie free agents defensive back Ronnie Amadi and linebacker Tony White, the 20th and 21st new players since free agency began in October. Lineman Kyle Rasmussen was waived to make room on the roster.

"These guys bring a lot of athleticism and depth to our team," head coach Kevin Porter said. "For us to be successful we need to maintain a competitive atmosphere where a lot of different guys can step up."

Amadi (6-0, 185 lbs.) played at the University of Kansas with twin brother Donnie Amadi, appearing in 48 games between 2002 and 2005. After a redshirt year in 2001, he played in every game for the next four years, making nine starts. In 2004 Amdai finished third on the team with five pass break-ups. He won the coaches award as special teams player of the week following the Bowling Green game in 2002. Amadi was also a Jayhawk Scholar student-athlete.

"It feels real good to be part of the team," Amadi said. "It's a blessing to be getting paid for playing the sport I love. I'm just ready to come in and help out the team."

Amadi has participated in the Scout Camp pro football regional combine, which led to a tryout with the Buffalo Bills. He has also been on the roster of af2's Tulsa Talons. A resident of Nigeria for six years, Amadi prepped at Alief Hastings High in Houston, earning all-district honors in football and lettering in baseball.

White (6-1, 245 lbs.) played four years at UCLA from 1997 to 2000 and was a starter the final three seasons. He was part of some great Bruins teams, including the 1997 and 1998 squads. UCLA won a share of the Pac-10 title in 1997 with a 10-2 record, including a Cotton Bowl victory, and finished the year ranked No. 5 in the polls. The 1998 team won the Pac-10 title outright with a 10-2 record, played in the Rose Bowl and finished the year ranked No. 8 in the polls.

White recorded 10 tackles in the heartbreaking 49-45 loss to Miami in 1998 that ended the Bruins national championship dreams. As a senior in 2000, he started every game, including the Sun Bowl, and finished sixth on the team in total tackles and second in tackles-for-loss. In his collegiate career, White played alongside the likes of Cade McNown, DeShaun Foster, Drew Bennett, Ricky Manning, Freddie Mitchell, Tab Perry, Brandon Chillar and Robert Thomas.

"It feels great to be with the team," White said. "All you can ask for is an opportunity, especially in pro sports. The Brigade has given me one and I just want to make the most of it."

White's pro football experience comes from four years in the CFL with the Calgary Stampede and Ottawa Renegades. Most recently he has been teaching and coaching at St. Genevieve High in Panorama City, Calif. A native of El Paso, Texas, White was chosen All-State by Max Emfinger's Blue Chip Report out of Burges High and selected as the district MVP.
