
Bridgeport Edges Pirates

Portland, Maine - Micheal Haley scored midway through the third period and it stood as the game winner as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers skated past the Portland Pirates by a 3-2 count in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 2,562 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Greg Mauldin and Trevor Smith scored the other Sound Tigers goals while Nathan Lawson turned aside 27 shots for the victory as Bridgeport improved to 7-5 on the season.
Mark McCutcheon netted both Portland goals, his first two as a member of the Pirates. Mark Mancari collected an assist on the first Pirates goal to extend his point-scoring streak to six games (2-5-7). The Pirates saw their three-game home winning streak end and in the process dropped to 4-8 on the season.
Bridgeport led 1-0 after one and 2-1 heading into the third.
The Pirates out shot the Sound Tigers 29-20 in the game as Jhonas Enroth took the loss.
The three stars of the game were 1. Mauldin; 2. Bridgeport defenseman Dustin Kohn and 3. McCutcheon.
The Pirates continue a four-game home stand Friday when the Hershey Bears visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 7 p.m. start.
