
Bridgeport Defeated by Lancaster

(Lancaster, PA - June 19, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (22-29) suffered a second consecutive loss against the Lancaster Barnstormers (31-20) as the road team was defeated by a score of 10-2 at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Tuesday. The Bluefish remain three wins shy of 1,000 in franchise history and are 2-6 against the Barnstormers this season.
James Simmons drove in the only run of the night for Bridgeport. He smacked a solo shot to rightcenter in the eighth. It was his first career Bluefish homer as he picked up two hits on the night and now has five hits in his last two contests. Brock Peterson reached base three times for the road team while Luis Lopez got to first base twice.
Lancaster jumped out to the lead with a three-run second inning. After the Bluefish scored the teams' only run of the night in the third on a double play ball, with runners at the corners, the Barnstormers scored seven unanswered; four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Jaime Pedroza smacked a two-run shot to right in the second. The eighth homer of the year was his only hit of the night. Brad Boyer accounted for the other run in the second as he served an RBI single to leftcenter. Emerson Frostad collected a two-run double to left in the fifth and scored two times on the night while Terry Tiffee scored twice and drove in a pair of runners on Tuesday.
Bridgeport starter, Tobi Stoner (1-8), suffered the loss as the righthanded pitcher allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits, three walks and four strikeouts in four-and-a-third frames. Matt Pike, Jesse English and Wynn Pelzer delivered the final three-and-two-thirds innings. The tandem gave up three runs on six hits and a walk while fanning two the rest of the way.
J.D. Durbin (3-4) picked up the Barnstormers victory. The righthanded starter completed eight innings and surrendered two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out one Bridgeport batter. Ching-Lung Lo tossed a scoreless ninth and allowed a walk in his outing.
Bridgeport continues the series against the Lancaster Barnstormers on the road on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Bluefish will send righthanded starter Jonah Bayliss (1-2, 3.82 ERA) to the hill against righthanded starter Dwayne Pollok (3-0, 2.39 ERA).
